Teach me to whisper

NOT Mommy of the Year

Oh boy.

It's been a rough week for me.

It's only Tuesday evening.

I've been so edgy and irritable and it hasn't been very pretty.

Proverbs 15:1 says A gentle answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up trouble.
I've turned into yelling mommy.

I am asking God to help me to stop barking orders and yelling.

I'm asking him to help me to count to 5 before responding to my kids in anger.

I need God to teach me to whisper.

And as Anne of Green Gables says, "Tomorrow is a new day, with no mistakes in it...yet."

I'm thankful that God's mercies are new every morning.

I need a lot of mercy and grace.

Maybe I can apply for Mommy of the Year...next year.

  2. This is my prayer everyday, Kristi, you are not alone. As the children get older and more independent, doing things their way, it becomes harder to keep calm. And don't forget being pregnant amplifies everything! lol, Yes, thank the Lord that His mercies and grace are abundant.

    In Him,

  3. I believe that a Mommy of the Year prepares her children for everything she can. Barking and yelling happens often in the working world, be it customers, managers, etc.

Congratulations on teaching an important lesson to the kids that good people are not always full of patience but that it does not stop them from being a good person.

Congratulations on being self-aware and able to reflect so that you can become better.

Congratulations on still having some great, well-developed kids and for this being one of the small stumbling blocks on their path.

Also, Jaime will not be submitting her candidacy for Mother of the Year so don't worry about competition. She forgets to feed the kids! :D

  4. Kristi...Don't be too hard on yourself! Full-time mothering/homeschooling is a tough but rewarding job/calling!! We all fall short sometimes (some of us more than others-meaning me!!) When I lose it and yell at the kiddos, after I regain my composure, we sit down and pray for Mommy not to yell and for the kids to check their actions that may have provoked "The Yelling Mommy" to come for a visit...With God's help we take each day at a time and I love your Anne of Green Gables reference!! :)
