Ephesians 5: 24, 25
Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.
Julia has asked me and her daddy about our wedding rings. We've told her many times that we both gave each other rings when we got married to show how much we love each other.
Today in the car Julia said to me, "Mom, daddy gave you you ring?" (she's only 2 1/2 sometimes her grammar isn't always perfect) "Yes, baby." "He loves you?" "Yes, he does." "Daddy loves me too, mommy! I miss daddy!" she says.
Then later in the evening when we were in my room brushing her hair after bath time she went over to my dresser and looked at our wedding picture. She got so excited. "Mommy, you dress! You married dress!" "Yup that's when daddy and I got married! That's my wedding dress!" she repeats everything I say, but with a question..."That's you wedding dress, yeah?" "Yeah, doesn't daddy look handsome?" Now, don't laugh, but she actually said, "No, Marky is our handsome boy!" LOL I guess because I'm always saying how handsome Marky is!
After we both laughed we began talking more about my wedding day and I told her how we gave each other rings because we were promising to God we would always be together because we loved each other.
It's moments like these that make me stop and think about what is important in my life. It makes me think about the decisions I have made, and how God has just been so good to us and so faithful. I feel so blessed to be able to have a family.
And when I looked at my wedding rings today I couldn't help but smile, and give thanks to God.
Psalm 92: 1-2 It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High. To declare your loving kindness in the morning, and your faithfulness every night.
