Timothy Christian School Chapel

I got to be with the Elementary students at Timothy today!!!

It was awesome to see a new group of students in the K-2nd chapel and see some students I have subbed for in the 3-4th grade chapel.  And of course it is always lovely to see all my teacher friends!

I have to say the students were so well behaved and very attentive, and the 3rd and 4th graders were super smart!!! I love hearing the kids recite Scripture and know Bible facts...it's just awesome!

My chapel was all about being thankful.  In the K-2nd chapel I told them the story of the 10 lepers found in Luke 14, and how Jesus healed them, and only one leper came back to thank Jesus.  We had fun acting out the Bible story.  I had a priest, and another boy playing Jesus, and my 10 lepers were willing to put baby powder all over their hands (which represented the awful skin disease of leprosy).

We then recited 1 Thessalonians 5: 18 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Then we reviewed Psalm 100: 4-5
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving    and his courts with praise;    give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;    his faithfulness continues through all generations.

I asked for three helpers to tell me the three reasons why we should be thankful to God:

1. God is Good
2. His love never runs out (it endures forever)
3. He keeps his promises  (He's faithful)

In the 3rd-4th grade chapel I reviewed the story of Moses and Pharaoh and how God freed the Israelites from slavery, performed the amazing 10 plagues to show his might and power, and how the Israelites started to complain and grumble on their way to the Promised Land.  They started to complain and grumble because they were not thankful for the manna God provided and they forgot about God's love and mighty wonders.

The older and wiser kids helped me review each of the plagues and then we talked about the importance of being thankful.  I shared my list of 10 things I was thankful for and then each child was given a leaf and they were to write what they were thankful for.  We made Thankful trees to hang in each building!

Overall it was a great day, and I was blessed by each child there!

Thank you Lord for Christian schools where we are free to pray and teach our children about you!!!
