10 Years Ago I was 23 and it was my first year at Timothy Christian School teaching third grade.

10 years ago the twin towers fell, I can still remember Mary Martin stopping a reading session during snack time to pull me into the hall way and share the world events.

10 years ago I wondered what God had planned for me and John.

10 years ago John got saved and started his amazing journey with the Lord.

10 Years ago I put 100 percent into teaching and making life fun for my 25 wonderful students.  I remember reading novels to them, practicing our spelling words in chocolate pudding and shaving cream, doing scientific experiments and memorizing verses with my class.

We made projects in class and I enjoyed seeing each student's strengths and creativity.

10 Years ago I was so blessed to become a teacher at such an amazing school and I met some amazing forever friends that I can't imagine what my life would be like without them in it.  They know who they are.

10 Years ago instead of dressing up for Halloween we had the kids dress up as Christian Heros and share their stories.  I can still remember hearing each student share what they learned about Abraham Lincoln, Corrie Ten Boon,  Eric Liddell, etc.

10 Years ago we celebrated Spirit day and the kids got to dress down and where blue and gold and paint their faces.  School was a safe fun place to celebrate our achievements, share our dreams, make new friends, and establish our goals for the future.  Can't you feel the excitement in this picture?

10 years ago I used every bit of knowledge and creativity I learned in college to make school a safe and fun place to explore, create, and imagine, and practice!  And even if the only thing my third graders remember is that I was the brownie teacher (because I liked to bring in baked goods) or the project Queen (because I loved a good project) or the teacher that allowed them to get dirty with shaving cream or chocolate pudding in class (because it was fun), then I did a pretty good job!  Because school isn't always about worksheets and homework!

10 Years ago I realized that I was made to teach and that it brought joy and contentment to my soul!  Every year I spent in the classroom was a good one!  Each student was loved and prayed for, and you could bet I'd be one of the first to arrive and one to show up on weekends!

Class of 2011 you are my first group of third graders to graduate from Timothy Christian School.  And you can bet I will be cheering you on tonight as I watch you graduate!  I'll be the one in the front with the box of tissues!  I'm so proud of all of you.  God has great things in store for you!  Do me a favor, keep seeking God in all that you do, continue to strive for excellence, treat people with respect, and remember to laugh and have fun along the way!  Mrs. Mac loves you!  I can't wait to see what God has in store for all of you!

  2. WOW Kristi, you put me to tears. Your words were so beautiful and most importantly, they came from the heart. So excited you are going to be there tonight and sharing in our celebration as we honor our son and all his accomplishments. We love you so much.

  3. What a wonderful post. You are an amazing teacher still (even though you don't have a classroom full at TCS). You have the gift of teaching! I miss working with you!!! We had a fun hallway. Your smile and genuine love for your students was always evident. You are a fabulous teacher, wife, friend, sister, daughter, mother and woman of God! I admire you, and I am so glad that we will have eternity together especially since we can't seem to get together here on earth much. :)

Love & God bless you and your family,

    Hayley Richards
