The Power of a Praying Wife Chapter 20: His Attitude

We wake up every day and we make a CHOICE what kind of attitude we will have.  Will we choose to be complaining, angry, negative, stubborn, unforgiving?  Will we choose to think about the past?  Will we worry?  Will we be God-controlled or flesh-controlled?  Our circumstances may not be perfect, we may not wake up happy, but we can choose to honor God with our attitude and be a blessing to others rather than a curse.

We've all encountered the rude sales person who has had a bad day and takes it out on us.  We've all be on the road and heard four lettered words from impatient people.  None of us is immune to being hurt by other people's bad attitude, but we can CHOOSE to not be that person that hurts others.

I thought about this chapter and thought about John's attitude, and I was the one convicted.  John is a happy go lucky type of personality that just goes with the flow.  For the most part, he is annoyingly always in a great mood (just kidding, its not annoying, it's sweet) He really does his best to not let his attitude be affected by his circumstances, but this is definitely a God-thing, and not a John thing.  Growing up John did struggle  a lot with his attitude.  Before he knew Christ you wouldn't have even recognized the John we all love and know now.  He was constantly trying to fit in with his friends, and pretty much hated school (even though he was really smart) and struggled with his parents.  He wasn't the confident, fun loving person he is now.  Isn't it amazing how once God gets a hold on your life you really do become a New Creature?  I love it.

He isn't one to dwell on the past.  He wants to be at peace with everyone and move forward.  He is quick to forgive and is very loving.  Hence, why I married him!

This week I'm going to pray that John and I will have soft hearts toward God and that we allow God to control our attitude and that we have a spirit of thankfulness no matter what.

Psalm 101: 2  I will behave wisely in a perfect way, Oh, when will You come to me?  I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

Proverbs 28: 14 Happy is the man who is always reverent, but he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

Let's pray that:
* God fills us with His love and peace
*May we feel a calmness, serenity, and sense of well being established in us because our life is God controlled
*Enable us to walk with a clean and perfect heart
*Shine the light of Jesus
*Allow the Spirit to fill us with His love

Love Dare-
*Hold hands while watching a movie/show!

  1. Our husbands are two peas in a pod!! Brian is the same way... I am the one who dwells on hurts or empty, hurtful words spoken by others. Something I am always working on. Love you, my twin!
