The Door

This photo was taken on October 22, 2006, before kids, just John and I having a stroll in Princeton, one of our favorite day trip places, to eat, to walk around, to shop, and hold hands...

Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

Isn't it amazing that the God of the universe, the God of creation, the God of heaven and earth seeks a relationship with us???? He stands at the door of our heart and knocks. It may be a loud knock or a soft knock, but he stands there and takes the first step towards building a relationship with us. Our job is to open the door, answer the knock, and accept his visit. Many times God's knock may be a sickness, a difficult financial situation, a broken relationship...God does allow trials and tribulations to enter into our lives, but His goal is always for the purpose of getting our attention and building a deep, meaningful relationship with us. A God who seeks after His people.

The verse doesn't say that He stands and bangs on the door or shoves His way in. No, he stands there, patiently waiting for us. Because love is a choice. God loves us...but many times we ignore the knocking on our hearts. Why? Because we think we have all the answers. We think we know the way. We believe our own truth. We want to live our own life. Isn't that sad? God is still there. He is still waiting. Still knocking.

Dear Jesus, there have been many times when I myself wanted to do things my way, and I ignored the knocking on my heart. Thank you for being so gracious to me. For patiently waiting for me. Thank you for giving me the courage to open the door and build a relationship with you. It is the best choice I ever made. Help me to always be sensitive to your knock and your calling. Help me to obey you no matter what. Help me to want your will for my life. I love you Lord.
